Lanett City Schools recently launched its New & Novice Teacher Academy, designed to support our new teachers and educators with less than two years of teaching experience as they grow and develop in their profession.
The academy provides opportunities for professional learning, collaboration, reflection, and practical support to help our newest educators build confidence, strengthen their instructional practices, and create positive learning experiences for our students.

September is Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth aged 10–24 across the U.S. and in Alabama, making connected communities, early recognition, and open support critical for saving lives. Every student needs to know they are not alone and that there is a trusted adult who cares.
It’s a great day to be a Panther! The Child Nutrition Department is excited to announce new
scratch-based recipes this year. We are committed to providing healthy, delicious meals every meal,
every day to our students! We are also introducing more fresh produce and fruit through the Fresh
Fruit and Vegetable Program at W.O. Lance Elementary School this year. Fresh salads are also
offered weekly on the menu and are made from romaine lettuce grown from a local Alabama farmer.
A few new scratch-based recipes that were added to our program this year:
Homemade buttermilk pancakes
Banana Split Breakfast Parfait
Homemade marinara sauce for Italian dishes
Homemade Lasagna
Chicken Parmesan
Chicken Philly Sub
Roast Beef with Potatoes and Carrots
Teriyaki Chicken and Rice Bowls with Stir-Fry Vegetables
Chicken and Spinach Quesadillas
The Child Nutrition Program (CNP) staff works tirelessly every day to produce large quantities of
meals twice a day for our students. The CNP staff puts forth great effort to prepare meals in a short
period of time while adding love in every bite just to make our students happy in their home away
from home. We want our students to enjoy their food while providing essential nutrients for healthy
minds and bodies for grow.
The Child Nutrition Program served 6,860 breakfasts and 14,225 lunches in the month of August
alone. The Child Nutrition Program is striving for 100 percent student participation for both breakfast
and lunch. It’s a Great Day to be a CNP Panther!

Progress reports are coming home on Wednesday, September 9th! Take a moment with your student this week to review the grades and set goals for the rest of the quarter.
Don't forget: You don't have to wait for progress reports to stay updated! You can check your child's grades, assignments, and attendance anytime in real time through our parent portal: lanettcs.powerschool.com/public.
