Location: W.O. Lance Elementary
All meals are at no cost for students who attend the summer program. Breakfast is from 8:00-8:30 & Lunch is from 12:15-12:45 pm. Meals must be eaten on site.

Our final device collection date for all students in grades K-12 will be Tuesday, May 21st from 11:30-4:30. The location will be outside of the LJH/LHS Front Office. Please see the flyer for more information.

Buses will run morning routes only for LHS students. Please make arrangements for someone to pick you up or to walk.
Students should only report for the exam that they are taking.
Students only taking the first exam will be allowed to leave at 9:20. Students will exit through the lobby.
Be sure to study! Semester exams are 20% of your final average!
Is your child a senior and finished with uniforms? Or do you have uniforms your child has outgrown?
We are still accepting clean, gently used uniforms in collaboration with @pantherswithpassion! You can drop donations off at the school office.

SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE and that means it is time for the Chambers County Library Summer Programs. Pre-registration is now underway for the Sylvia Word McCollough Reading Challenge which begins on May 24. This year’s theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library ” Signing up is quick and easy. Visit chamberscountylibrary.org and click on the Summer Programs tab to get complete information about the many programs offered in June and July at Bradshaw Library and the LaFayette Library.

Antasia Brooks and Jairo Gabriel Lopez recently participated in Earth Week sponsored by the LHS Science Club. Antasia Brooks won the scavenger hunt by solving the environmental riddle and finding the hidden natural object. She received a $25 gift prize. Both students entered their artwork in the school's art contest. Jairo Gabriel Lopez’s robot entered the Chambers County Art Contest and the Alabama PALS 2024 Recycled Art Contest. Congratulations to these students!

Last week in Mrs. Crenshaw's Biology class, students learned two significant systems of blood: the ABO system and the Rh system.
Students participated in a lab during which they tested ten blood samples to determine who could donate to the accident victims in the scenario.
The Top Ten students from the Class of 2024 were recognized at the recent Lanett City Schools Board Meeting. We are so proud of them! Each year, we send an upcoming senior to participate in Boys State and Girls State. Both of these programs are part of the American Legion, an organization that believes teaching young people about the American government will result in our country's continued success. Each program is a weeklong opportunity for students to build new friendships, learn about and participate in a mock government, and listen to a variety of speakers.
An annual donation from Lanett’s Lambda Zeta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. sponsors a boy and a girl to participate in this worthwhile summer adventure. This year, our boy is Jaquarius Billingsley and our girl is MaKiah White. The staff of LHS votes on these students based on their leadership, work ethic, and motivation for school and community activities.

Each year, students on yearbook staff select a staff member to whom the dedicate the yearbook. This year, the students selected Mrs. Frederick, affectionately known as "Mrs. Deidra". She is the school secretary and band auxiliary sponsor. She always has a smile and kind words for everyone who calls or comes into the office. She goes "above and beyond", helping with bulletin board decorating and event planning and decorating. The students know she is always available to help them. Congratulations Mrs. Deidra!

Micah Strickland and Dominique Thompson played the final match in the Lanett High School 1st Annual Chess Tournament. Micah won in a very tight game! It was the third time these two met in the double-elimination tournament. Micah won the first time, which put Dominique in the losers bracket. Micah won the winners bracket and Dominique won the losers bracket, so they played again. Dominique won that game, so they had to play a third time. Both students played all three games very strategically and showed excellent sportsmanship. Congratulations to both!
